NOPE (2022)
Nope is my favorite horror movie of all time, hands down. It was the first movie i saw in theatres after lockdown and very seriously changed the course of my life forever, being the thing that really got me into horror. Its an incredibly shot movie for starters, and like all Peele movies is incredibly written with a star studded cast. I try not to write anything spoilery in my reviews but ohhhh my god theres so much i could say about the plot . incredible beautiful story about black people animals and hollywood

ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (2004)
I watched eternal sunshine for the first time this december after having it on my list for literal years and really just. Wow . I completely understand why this movie is so hyped up and I think honestly it might be one of my favorite romance movies of all time as of right now. I really do think Jim Carrey is a great actor whos been underutilized recently but he was seriously incredible in this, as well as the rest of the cast.

PRISCILLA (2023)
I was, in a lot of ways, suprised by Priscilla. I am, in a very general sense, a fan of Sofia Coppola movies, and Priscilla definitely didn't change that. The hair and makeup department did an incredible job at showing Priscillas age through her style and Cailee Spaeny did a wonderful job playing her. I can't comment on how well it reflects on whats written in 'Elvis and Me' as I haven't read it, but I think it did a pretty good job showing their relationship from a different lense. I didn't like Elvis before I watched and a definitely dont like him now.
The only real gripe I could say I had with the movie was a lack of build up in a way? Obviously there is only so much you can do with a little under 2 hours along with it being based on the book but I do wish there had been a little more time spent between the major stages of Priscillas life with Elvis building on how their relationship developed.

AFTERSUN (2022)
I watched Aftersun in early August 2023. I didn't initally expect much of it and hadn't previously seen any mention of it online anywhere, so I went in with fairly low expectations, and it was so much better than them I can't even begin to explain it. I can't compare it to anything in terms of debut films but Charlotte Wells completely knocked it out of the ballpark and created a beautiful movie about childhood, growing up, and how you view your parents vs who they really are.
I've seen a few people online say that it was boring and felt like nothing happened. While I disagree, I think it's important to mention that Aftersun is not a movie with an action driven plot. It is the main character looking back on a summer she spent with her father, and while we do see characters grow and change, its not nearly as drastic as it would be in other movies. I don't think this is a bad thing, but if you don't like movies that require outside thinking to understand character motivations and thoughts, I don't think it's for you.
